What do they actually do?

Psychiatrists are medical doctors who specialize in mental health, but unlike some other mental health professionals, psychiatrists have a medical degree which gives them specific responsibilities.
The first thing they do with a patient is a diagnosis assessment, this is where they get information on the patient, background, medical knowledge, etc. Next they will set up a treatment plan and insure it is implemented, they also have some psychotherapy with the client. Then for a while they just keep checking in with said person and make sure they are doing good, constant evaluation and prescription changes if needed. Psychiatrists also are good at preventing future mental illnesses! When they don’t have a client they do research on what new developments are being made in the industry!
